The brief descriptions below are designed to familiarize you with our staff's training, professional credentials and work experience.

 

Dr. John Hickey


Dr. Hickey has a BS in Mathematics (cum laude) from St Francis College, as well as an MA in Mathematics from St John's University. He was half-way through a doctoral thesis in Systems Analysis when he decided to return to medical school to become a podiatrist. He taught mathematics at Hofstra University and Queensboro Community College for twelve years, teaching full time at night for the first two years of med school. He graduated the NY College of Podiatric Medicine in 1981, cum laude. He did his residency at Oxford Hospital in Philadelphia., where he was fortunate to learn both traditional surgical techniques as well as the newer Minimal Incision techniques. He has been in private practice in Levittown since 1982, and is on staff at St Joseph, Plainview and Syosset Hospitals. He is Board Certified in Foot and Ankle Surgery by the APBS, in Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Primary Medicine by the ABFAOM, and in Foot and Ankle Surgery by the AAFAS. He is also credentialed in Pain Management.

 

Dr. Philip Schatz, DPM

Dr. Philip SchatzFrom a young age Dr. Schatz has held an interest in medicine and helping others, never deviating from his childhood dream of becoming a doctor. Dr. Schatz was first introduced to podiatry through his own first hand encounters as a patient throughout his years of playing high school and college basketball.

Dr. Schatz graduated from Baruch College with a Bachelor’s Degree in biology 2008. He then went on to attend the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, graduating in 2013 as a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine.

He continued his training at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, completing a residency and Podiatric Medicine and Surgery.
During this time Dr. Schatz received extensive hands on training in both medical management and surgical correction of an extensive array of foot and ankle conditions. In his final year, Dr. Schatz was named Chief Resident in recognition of his excellent work ethic and stellar reputation with in the hospital.

Dr. Schatz is a Board Qualified Surgeon with The American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, and is Board Certified with the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.
